Hunter Allen Trail Dedication & Inaugural Baby Dragon Fund Bike Ride
Join us Saturday April 11, 2009 at the Victory Trailhead in Upper Virgenes Canyon Park, located off Valley Circle and Victory Boulevard for the Hunter Allen Trail Dedication and Inaugural Baby Dragon Fund Bike Ride.
For those doing the bike ride, we will meet at 8:00am, ride out at 8:30am and return to the park for the Hunter Allen Trail dedication and lunch at 12:00pm noon. For those who will be attending the dedication and would like to hike the trail we suggest you arrive at 11:00am to welcome back the riders and join in the festivities. The trail itself is about one mile long and will take approximately 50 minutes to walk.
The Baby Dragon Fund is raising money for addiction services, youth services and mental health programs at the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center. We are also raising funds for the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy which has named a trail in Hunter’s honor for his dedicated and tireless efforts to preserve this land from development and to keep it open for all to enjoy.
We ask that each attendee contribute $30 to be split between these two causes. Checks can be made payable to “Friends of the Center - Baby Dragon Fund.”

Trail at Ahmanson Ranch Named in Hunter Allen’s Memory
On May 12 the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy voted in favor of a resolution to name a trail at Ahmanson Ranch (the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space) in Hunter Allen’s memory.
Hunter was instrumental in protecting and preserving Ahmanson Ranch. The project was his passion and one of his proudest professional accomplishments. Hunter devoted himself to this cause, working all hours of the day, seven days a week to defeat plans to develop the land. Whether he was speaking at community meetings, busing groups of concerned citizens to the developer’s shareholder meeting in Seattle, or organizing activists in Ventura and Los Angeles Counties, Hunter was the driving force and heart behind the successful campaign
Scores of elected officials and community leaders spoke out in support of naming a trail in Hunter’s memory, including: U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, Congressman Henry Waxman, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, California State Assembly Speaker-Elect Karen Bass, California State Senate Majority Leader Gloria Romero, California State Senator Sheila Kuehl, State Assembly Member Julia Brownley, Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks, Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti, Film Director and Co-Chair of Rally to Save Ahmanson Ranch Rob Reiner, President of IMG Global Media and Co-Chair of Rally to Save Ahmanson Ranch Chris Albrecht, Executive Director of Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust Tsilah Burman, and Campaign Manager of Rally to Save Ahmanson Ranch Chad Griffin.
